Summer 2023

Between July 10 and August 4, 2023, 20 new STEMLA Fellows joined us on campus for the second in-person STEMLA Summer Program. 

The theme of the 2023 STEMLA Fellows Summer Program was Global Medicine: The History and Biology of Epidemics. STEMLA Fellows completed three courses this summer for a total of 1.5 course credits. 

  • The Biology of Epidemics taught by  and  
  • Conventional Medicine and Indigenous Societies in Africa taught by  
  • Quantitative Reasoning in STEM taught by  

In addition to courses, Fellows visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art, saw the Barbie movie, took a field trip to the Penn Museum and the Mütter Museum.
