Dear staff colleagues,
I am pleased to announce a new opportunity to flex summer work hours for staff in offices whose services allow for flexibility.
This program allows staff members to work a regular 35–40-hour week compressed into four days instead of five. This will allow individuals to take the fifth workday as a day off (and not a vacation day). Start and end times may vary per day and per week as needed to support department operations, and supervisors will be able to schedule the day in a way to ensure that there is departmental coverage.
For certain essential operations, such as Campus Safety and Facilities, where a day off may not be feasible relative to shift coverage or seasonal requirements, staff should be given the opportunity to take an equivalent number of hours (per week) at another time within the same calendar year.
The Summer Flex Period runs from June 6th through August 15th excluding the weeks of June 17 and July 1 when the June 19 (Juneteenth) and July 4 (Independence Day) College holidays are observed.
